Care Instructions:
Raw denim generally wears best if allowed to age with use. We suggest washing the apron before first use though to minimize dye transfer. Remove the leather straps prior, soak apron in a few inches of cool water for 20 minutes, hand wring to remove as much water as possible, and lay flat to dry. Restraining from washing raw denim too much in the first few months will allow the rich indigo dye to fully set, and for the piece to move and shape according to the wearers body and lifestyle, helping the denim to achieve a unique shape and fade. Here are some tips for keeping your raw denim feeling fresh and new.
Spillage – Dry rub and/or dab with a paper napkin or water dampened cloth. Use of soap or other cleaning solutions may risk losing some of the indigo dye and create an uneven fade.
Seperate – Due to the indigo dye bleeding during washing, always wash raw denim seperate from other clothing pieces.
Water Temperature – General rule of thumb: the hotter the water, the greater the shrinkage. Cold to warm water preferred.
Cleaning Solution – Mix in a small amount of very light washing agent, preferably Woolite Black, since it is specifically designed to lock in darker colors. Do not use bleaches or regular laundry detergent.
Drying – Always dry flat. Shrinkage and effects on fit, fade and contrast will occur if heat is used to dry the denim.
